A Closer Look at InShored: Brand Identity and Logo Design by Gladhill Design
Nestled in the heart of Ocean City, New Jersey, InShored is not your typical private clubhouse. Owned by a distinguished group of insurance professionals, InShored is a retreat that blends exclusivity with coastal charm. When Gladhill Design was brought on board to create the brand identity and logo for this unique destination, the mission was clear: craft a design that embodies modern sophistication while paying homage to the shore, without leaning on overused beach motifs.
The Inspiration Behind the Name and Logo
The name InShored carries a dual meaning, reflecting both the professional roots of its owners and its idyllic seaside location. Gladhill Design drew on these dualities to create a logo that captures the essence of the brand. The challenge was to design something fresh, clean, and memorable while steering clear of clichés like seashells, sunshine, and umbrellas. Instead, the focus was on simplicity and subtlety, drawing inspiration from:
The Crest of the Roof: A distinctive architectural feature of the clubhouse, the roof’s crest became a central element of the design, symbolizing shelter and a sense of place.
The Shoreline’s Beauty: The logo needed to evoke the wonder and freedom of the sea without relying on obvious imagery. This led to the incorporation of a single, elegant seagull soaring over the roofline.
The Logo Design
The final logo is a harmonious blend of clean lines and thoughtful symbolism:
The Seagull: Positioned above the roof crest, the seagull represents freedom, curiosity, and the endless possibilities that lie beyond the horizon. Its subtle presence nods to the beach while avoiding overuse of stereotypical imagery.
Modern Simplicity: The overall design embraces minimalism, using clean shapes and a refined typeface that reflect sophistication and professionalism.
Color Palette: A carefully curated palette of oceanic blues and soft neutrals mirrors the serene tones of the shore, reinforcing the clubhouse’s coastal identity.
